United Utilities visit AVK UK’s manufacturing centre of excellence 02-07-2024
The UK manufacturing centre of excellence for AVK fittings hosted a delegation from United Utilities – when they came for a factory tour and to learn about our industry-leading range of fittings and fabrications.
AVK Syddal, our facility in Hyde near Manchester, is a dedicated, modern manufacturing facility producing a complete range of mechanical fittings, from bespoke fabrications to pipe repair clamps and tees for the water, wastewater, and gas industry.

The team from United Utilities received a presentation and training with a chance to get hands on with a variety of mechanical fittings, including our Supa Maxi, Supa Universal, Supa Plus, repair clamps, and dismantling joints.
A factory tour then demonstrated the manufacturing process from rolling sheet steel to welding, coating to assembly, and then packaging, ready to go out to the customer. Whether it's a production run or a bespoke item, all products are manufactured by a team of experienced personnel, from CAD designers to welders/platers, all dedicated to producing the highest quality products on the market.
AVK Syddal is also home to our 365/24/7 Emergency Pipe Repair Clamp Service, putting emergency orders into action immediately, with our technical team assisting in identifying and recommending the correct repair clamp or fitting for the application.
Daniel Grace, Technical Support Officer for United Utilities, said:
“This was a great insight into seeing how the fabrications are made first hand and the speed of the process from its raw form to finished product.”
Jack Lyon, Water Network Manager for United Utilities, added:
“It's great this facility is on our doorstep and seeing UK fabrication and the skilled workmanship that goes into the process.”
The tour was hosted by AVK UK’s Jim Marsden, Head of Mechanical and Fabricated Fittings (Water), and Debbie Jackson, Business Development Manager for Mechanical Fittings & Fabrications (Water).

“It was a pleasure to host United Utilities and showcase our industry leading fittings and fabrications. We are always open to development and learning opportunities and to showcase our manufacturing capabilities here, in Manchester, in the UK.
“Our UK-based facilities help us reduce lead times for customers and, where our fabrications are concerned, help to reduce the carbon footprint of our products.
