Pipeline Industries Guild visits AVK UK’s Corby manufacturing plant
As a key member of the Pipeline Industries Guild, AVK UK was delighted to host a recent visit from delegate members to its manufacturing plant in Corby. 13-10-2023
As well as a factory tour, the visitors met AVK UK specialists and had opportunities to learn more about AVK Smart Water, VIDI sensors, Series 36 PE-tailed gate valves, mechanical fittings, and gas products and solutions.
The Pipeline Industries Guild (known to members as PIG) has operated for almost seventy years; AVK UK itself has been a member for more years than anyone can remember! PIG is a voice for the pipeline industries to share best practice and technological development. At the AVK UK event there were representatives from water utilities, contractors and engineering consultancies, a clear demonstration of the depth and breadth of PIG membership.
Each of the presentations generated excellent questions from the visitors. For example:
Do Gate Valves withstand water hammer?
On the Series 36 PE-tailed gate valve, visitors wanted to know whether it was able to withstand water hammer. Based on testing, supported by accreditation evidence, the answer was a clear ‘yes’.
Supa Maxi™ Fittings
On the Supa Maxi™ fittings range, visitors asked how the teeth were fixed. This was explained in some depth and it was also clarified that the teeth could be replaced in order to re-use the fittings and extend their usable lifespan.
